Current User as default owner of survey

Please help us help you and fill where relevant:
Your LimeSurvey version:  6.14.1+250527
Own server or LimeSurvey hosting: Own server
Survey theme/template: Fruity

When a user creates a new survey, the default owner of the survey is Administrator and the owner email address is a general mail address.
This ensures that all mails generated by the survey are send to the same mail address.

Now it is possible to manually change the owner of a survey from "Default" to "Current User" when creating a new survey.
But I would like to change the owner of every (new) survey to "Current User" by default, how can I set it up?

I think the exact same question was asked just a couple of weeks ago.

I don't think there is currently a way to do so. At least not that I know of.

  • Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
  • Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).

By the way, where I said "Default Owner" of a Survey I actually ment the Administrator and Administrator Email Address.

But perhaps there is different solution for my problem:
Lets say we have a user who creates a survey and invites 1000 people via email to participate in the survey.
The sender of the mail is always the global administrator email address (for example administrator@mydomain.com).
But the sender mail address should be surveyuser@mydomain.com instead, is it possible to set this as default?

I think this is connected to the switch of the "owner" as well and I don't think that there is a setting that can switch the default behaviour. So this, at the moment, needs to be done manually, afaik. But I am also not an expert on this. I think people like Denis and Tpartner probably have more knowledge on this. But I haven't seen Denis for a while in the forum. Looking at the calendar, I guess he is on vacation.

However, I think your point is valid and it would make sense to have the setting on this.

On the other hand: The real sending of the email can always only be done by the email setup in Limesurvey. You can't configure the SMTP settings for each survey. And "pretending" to send from a different email while you send it via the default email is "dangerous" in terms of being flagged as spam, understandably.
