Hi everyone,

First time user here. I'm trying to end the survey early for people who do not give informed consent to participate. I first ask whether people consent (yes or no) and when they do not consent, an additional question pops up asking whether they're sure they do not want to participate (yes or no). As seen in previous forum posts, the best way to end the survey early would be to set a quota of '0' for when people answer 'no' to the 'are you sure you don't want to participate' question. However, when doing so, the quota message shows up even before the second question is visible. People receive the first consent question, which is immediately followed by the quota message. Why is this the case? How can I make it so the quota message only shows up on a seperate page when people indicate in the second question they do not want to participate?

Many thanks for your responses! I am at a definite loss here.

To help you with this it would have been great if you would have answered the standard questions that appear when you create a new post in the forum, like Limesurvey Version, etc.

And then it would be great to have a LSS file that shows the problem. We don't want to see the whole survey, but basically just an example structure that shows the problem (copy your survey, delete everything that is not necessary for testing), export it and upload it here as LSS file.

But as a remote diagnosis: The problem is most probably with the two stages of of the question:

I find the "Are you sure you do not want to particpate" unnecessary, actually even annoying.

My guess is that the hidden question basically qualifies as "no" somehow if it is still hidden.

You most probably will have to move it to another "page" for this to work, but if you send an LSS example, we might be able to help better.

Help us to help you!
  • Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
  • Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).
Note: I answer at this forum in my spare time, I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH employee.

Hi,
when I create a survey with these two questions
Q1: Participate - Yes/No
Q2: Sure? - Yes/No (only displayed if Q1==2)

and set the quota, I do not see any issue.

So, as @holch already wrote

Waiting for your lss export.
