Hi, is there a way to let Limesurvey save the "response thus far"?

All my surveys are "one page" as my type of application works better when respondents have an overview of the whole (so no next buttons). Furthermore I always have a "tell your story" field (long text) that some spend an hour or more on.

This means that however long I set the "expire session", some users loose connection or accidentally hit a browser button and ... loose it all.

So my Q: is there a way (or plugin?) that allows to do one or all of the following:
  • Set a "save after ..." timer. For example 1, 5, 10 minutes.
  • Let  the user hit a "save what I have now" button (not the save/resume option)
  • A script or question option that says "save when user enters data in this Q".
Option 1 would be ideal, option 3 would be great and option 2 will work for some, but is also far from elegant.

I've searched the archive for "intermetiate save" and I know the "timer" option, but haven't found a solution so far.

For example, when the timer would have an option "save when time is up and reset duration" it would implement just what I need. It would allow to specify (just like with "next") that the response is saved.

Any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated

Have a nice day,

PS: I've used many versions of Limesurvey for the last 15 years, so I think my Q applies to all version.

I am not aware of any plugin that allows to save answers without submitting the whole survey when in "one page" mode.

Now, there is this plugin which might help you with your issue:
github.com/SondagesPro/limesurvey-plugin-heartbeat

What might be a solution if your respondents need to see previous answers is for example make them submit from time to time in group by group mode, but show their answers to previous questions in Text Display type of questions and allow them to go back as well if they see the need to correct something in previous questions. Not sure if this works for your application (as I don't know what your application is :-) ), but this might help to overcome some of the issues you are describing, while still allowing your respondents to see their answers to previous questions.

Help us to help you!
  • Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
  • Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).
Note: I answer at this forum in my spare time, I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH employee.
