==================Dear LimeSurvey Community,I’m working on a project that involves mapping a catalog of about 3,000 items using a survey. Each item needs the same multiple-choice answer options. I have the items in Word/Excel and can format them as needed.I assume there’s a straightforward way to bulk-add these items, but all the methods I found so far seem time-consuming and complex. I feel like I might be missing an easier approach—any guidance would be much appreciated!Survey Structure:
  1. A welcome message
  2. Two unique questions:
    • Name
    • Individual expertise of the respondent
  3. ~3,000 items, possibly organized into subcategories (either within question groups or multiple surveys).
Thanks in advance for your insights!

Hi,

but all the methods I found so far seem time-consuming and complex

Which methods did you find and rejected?
That we do not tell you things you know already.

3000 items and each item will need at least 1 if not several columns in the database, this means that you surely will have to split things up into several surveys, because the database engines generally run into their limits at around 1000 columns (depends on your database engine, your questions, etc.).

But to be honest, will you really be asking each person about 3000 items? Who is supposed to fill this out? I highly doubt that someone will answer 3000+ questions.

If you could explain the approach and "mapping a catalog" a little bit more, we might be able to give some ideas on how to structure this survey.

Because I still doubt that you want someone to go through 3000+ items and answer questions for each and any of it.

  • Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
  • Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).

gitlab.com/SondagesPro/QuestionSettingsT...tQuestionByResponses is done for this.

You have a survey with your 3000 items and a long text question with this plugin.
