Array with comment- Newbie help please was created by workerbee43
Hi Everybody!I am new to working with LimeSurvey, so please bear with me! I am being thrown to the wolves a bit.I am trying to create a LimeSurvey so that we can rate products for our company, to see who agrees on which product. So far I have the list of products in an array. Just to make it easier to understand let's say products 1-100.I would like then to assign a rating to each product, with 1st preference, 2nd preference and 3rd preference, while some products will not receive a rating at all. I have tried to give the 1st preference 15 points, the 2nd preference 10, 3rd 5 and the others 0.So far this was possible, but the exportation of said information was very confusing. I would like to be able to see a list in which the product with the most points will be at the top and so on.To add one more confusing factor to it all, my boss has also asked me to include a comment section for each product so people could leave an optional note if necessary.Could you please help a very desperate person out?Thank you so much in advance!

Hi,
why didn't you answer the questions at the beginning?
You not only ignored them but removed them.

This should be possible with some Equations.
But  before we try to build a survey like yours (that might be different) you'd better provide a lss export of your survey.

Hi,
something like that?

But what is

but the exportation of said information was very confusing. I would like to be able to see a list in which the product with the most points will be at the top and so on

Does it really mean you want to export the data and then get this ordered list?

But this is done with about ten clicks in Excel.
export data of ten respondents

ordered list

But before we  continue, send your lss export.

This is exactly what I am looking to have. I would like each product to be able to be rated, with the 1st preference having more value than 3rd obviously. We are looking to see which products have been rated the best over all by everyone. I am okay with keeping the "no answer" column for the products that should not get a rating at all, but that value would need to be 0. so that it is not considered at all.

Does this help?

I appreciate your response more than you know :)

Quick answer,

you can't use assessment values.
They are not stored in the database; so they won't be exported.
You have to code accordingly
Of course not the defaults ("AO01", "AO02",...). How do you think to calculate something with these texts?
No, use numerical codes, and use
15 for the 1st
10 for the second
5 for the third

Later I will have a  look and send back something

Here my proposal.

File Attachment:

File Name: limesurvey...15_J.lss
File Size:47 KB

And to get your ordered list
Export to Excel.
Here the data of about 50 respondents

Insert the SUM

Transpone

And sort

That's all.

BTW: I wonder why you use weights of 15, 10 and 5
You could use 3,2,1 as well; it's only the constant factor of 5.

Thank you so much for your help, I truly appreciate it from the bottom of my heart!!

I am struggling however, to have this show up the same on my computer. When I imported it, it looks like the picture below. What am I doing wrong? Also, I am totally fine with the numbers being 3, 2, and 1 respectively, I just chose random numbers.

I am so sorry I am so clueless, but you are a savior, and I hope you know how much this helps me!

Okay so I guess I didn't hit save. I have now, but my comment section is at the bottom and not on the side like it was for you. Is there any way to change this?

I do have the rights, just not on this account unfortunately, so I will have to wait to do it on my work computer. Where would I enter the script?
