==================
Hello,Would it be possible to create  a ranking/point allocation survey question in LimeSurvey? My survey consist of three steps:

Step 1:  I'll  be asking Respondents to list 5 items.

Step 2: Respondents will need to rank the listed items  in Step 1 by freely allocating a pool of credits/point  among them.
 • There will be a total of 12 points to allocate.
 • Respondents can give more points to items they seem with higher priority.
 • Respondents don't have to spend points in every area but the total must add up to 12.
Step 3: use 10point Likert scale to rate importance of the issues listed in step1

I  have been looking in the manual/thread in the community forrum about point allocation survey  but I couldn't  find any? Any work around you can suggest?
Here's a sample of point allocation survey I am trying to do: opinionx co/research-method-guides/points-allocation
I am also attaching the survey I am working on.

Many thanks!
Marlo

Hi,

I  have been looking in the manual/thread in the community forrum about point allocation survey  but I couldn't  find any?

What is your concern?

Your survey is fine, except a few minor things.

You should use "array filter"
The property ".shown" is thought only for coded questions; your question is an open question, so QCode is sufficient.

Or do you ask for the calculation? This you do with ExpressionScript.

Thanks for your quick reply, Joffm.

Yes, I am asking for calculation.

Oh, it should be with expression script then. That's good to know. I am not very techy, but is there any code I can try you could recommend?

In Step 2, I like respondents to allocate a total of 12 points among the five listed items in Step 1. They can give 0-12 points to each item but the total must add up to 12.

I just opened your attachment, Joffm. Thanks a lot!

Thank you for the question validation. That is what I need.

Couple of things:

-Is there way to code it in a way that the total must add to 12 points but not more than 12 points? I tried using sum(self.NAOK)=12 but it didn't work.

-Is there a way to show how many spend points left as respondents allocate points to each item?

Many thanks again for your time!

Hi,
as usual "RTFM".
www.limesurvey.org/manual/ExpressionScri...ntation/en#Operators
"=" is the assignment operator,
"==" is the comparison operator.

Meaning:
Q1=1: preset Variable Q1 with value "1".
Q1==1: if Q1 is equal 1 this comparison is TRUE else FALSE.

Thank you again, Joffm! It works now.

I was reading the thread on how to show the total and remaining points on this thread:
forums.limesurvey.org/forum/design-issue...-total-in-text-array

How to show them? Is there a button I should enable?

Hi Joffm, I already found the option on how to show the Toal and remaining points.

For some reason, the "Remaining" points is flushed Right. Is there a way to align to the "Total"?

Please no LSQ. LSQ and LSG files require the helpers in the forum to built a survey to import them into, which takes time.

And not only that. As they are language sensitive, we need to guess the base language of your file and create the survey accordingly.

Help us to help you and provide a LSS file. And no, we do not need nor want to see the whole survey. Just the relevant parts. So create a copy of your survey, delete any question group and question that is not relevant ot the problema and export the copy as LSS file and upload it here. Yes, it is a little bit more work you your side, but it is less work on our side.

Help us to help you!
 • Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
 • Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).
Note: I answer at this forum in my spare time, I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH employee.
