Is it possible to display 2 question groups in a single page? I know by default we have the option to show everything at once, show question by question, and group by group but I wonder if it is possible to have more flexibility without merging question groups to keep different topics well separated. Many thanks

No, you only have these 3 options:
1. All in one page
2. Group by group
3. Question by question

The most flexible one is "group by group". With this display type you can "misuse" the question groups as "pages".

Unfortunately Limesurvey is lacking a more visual "page" concept in addition the more conceptual "group" concept. If you use question groups as "pages" you will run into trouble if you want "logical" groups and viseversa.

You can support my feature request in the bug tracker:

I am advocating this option for a couple of years now (opened the feature request in 2014). So you see that things are fairly slow... :-)

Hi,

Is it possible to display 2 question groups in a single page?

But this is nothing else as you put all questions of these two groups into one.

if it is possible to have more flexibility without merging question groups to keep different topics well separated

"To keep different topics separated" is not the problem. Use several groups.
And please do not understand LimeSurvey groups as semantic groups "Start", "Experiment 1", "Experiment 2", "Demography", and so on.

The main problem - @holch mentioned it - is the lack of separation of logical and visual grouping.
So sometimes there are problems, if you want to display questions in a special randomized order.
Or you can't display two questions side by side and one question beneath on on page.

As @holch: Use "group by group" with usually one question per group.
This imitates a "questiomn by qquestion" approach, which is the best in online surveys.
But you are free to display two or more short questions on one page, or a question and a dependend follow-up question.
