Dear Community,

I am having the following setup and I would need your creative ideas:

I have multiple surveys that are identical however the content of the notification email differs based on the treatment condition.

How to make the title of the survey distinguishable for me but not for the respondents? So I would like to call the survey, e.g. "Group 1", "Group 2" etc... but I don't want that the respondents see that as the title of the survey.

Is there any alternative solution for that besides modifying the CSS files and opting not to display the title at all?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Best,
Kor

You must check www.limesurvey.org/manual/Theme_editor and set the title here.

Else : vote up for this feature 18740: Have internal title (for admin) different than public title

What I do in such cases:
I distinguish by SurveyID.
When you copy the survey you are free to choose a SurveyID

So you may choose
112201
112202
112203
...
112212

I have multiple surveys that are identical however the content of the notification email differs based on the treatment condition.

Why even setup different surveys if they are identical? The differences in the notification email can be solved by including custom attributes into the participant table and refer to them from within the email templates.

So you can have the same survey but change the treatment condition via expression script in the respective questions, as well as in the email templates.

Help us to help you!
  • Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
  • Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).

Hi, I am researching this exact idea and came across your post. How would you include the custom attribute's value in the email and how would you then hand it off to the survey? Feel free to send a link to the docs if they exist (if that's easier), I haven't found the topic yet. Thank you!

Hi, I understand that we can use expression script inside of the email template but am wondering how you would pass a value from the email to the survey so that you could use a singular survey but could pass a value such as Group1 or Group2 so that you could use the same survey, and send out a singular invite blast, but each user when taking the survey would have a value passed from the email invite to the survey, to note which group they belong to. This value would originate from the participant table's custom attribute fields for each user. I am assuming the only method would be to concatenate it to the invite URL as a string that LimeSurvey then grabs? Thanks

Hi,
If the value is in an additional attribute you may use it whereever you want
  • In the invitation mail
  • in the survey title

  • and as condition in questions (though here I'd prefer a second attribute with only a numeric code)

Or do I misunderstand completely?

Hi Joffm, your answer was very helpful. The lightbulb in my head turned on when realizing that I am sending out invites with unique token values, from which I am identifying the user, and then from which I can grab their specific ATTRIBUTE_1 value. This gave me the perspective I was lacking. Thank you!
