question pairing and randomization was created by luisa.winzer
Hello,
I cannot solve the following problem in Limesurvey. I have about 20 questions in a question group. 2 questions of them should always appear one after the other, because they build on each other. That means I have 10 question pairs. The 10 question pairs should be randomized. I can't find a solution where both requirements are met. Do you have an idea how I can solve this problem?

Many greetings
Luisa

Hi,
10 groups, each containing one pair.
All groups get the same "randomisation group name".

thank you. But it is necessary that the pairs are in one question group because the survey is way longer with a similar structure. So I have several questionsgroups with around 20 question. 2 of these questions should build a pair since they should be answered one after another. within the questiongroup these pairs should be randomized. i can not solve the problem that if I then randomize the condition that 2 questions are a pair does not hold any longer

So you have to revise your design.
Why should it be necessary, that these pairs are in one group.
Groups are used mainly for logical design.
As the rule in online surveys still is "One question per page".

Maybe I am also not very good at explaining. Because then I would have around 150 groups unfortunately.

And?
What's the problem?

It's often recommended to design "one question per group" and display "group by group".
Meaning the respondent sees "question by question".
But you have the opportunity to show two or three short questions on one page and - more important - to merge questions by javascript or css to achieve a different customized layout.

To avoid a lot of groups display  "question by question" and use grouping for logical reasons as in your case of randomised pairs.

Joffm

Always consider the use of smartphones to answer.
Avoid to much scrolling!

By the way, why 150 groups. At the moment there are only 12.
One at the beginning, the ten randomised and one at the end.
