Giving answer options as text, but storing them as numbers

Hello everyone!

Is there any way of providing answer options in an array as text and then storing them as a numbers? Something like: How much do you like chocolate? (Hate it/ medium/ a lot). Then yes answers are stored as 0, 1 or 2 in the responses. That would make data analysis much easier without having to use 'find and replace' procedures.

If you know that this can already be done please share. Otherwise please don't take your time to do complete coding solutions, I already had a lot of help from people here and don't want to bother also with this. I can work around with other solution. Just take this as a suggestion for further inclusion in limesurvey.

Thanks a lot, best,

Lígia

Hi,
1. Why didn't you answer the questions at the beginning?

Now, how do you want to ask this question.
Not really, that the respondenst enter a free text.
Of course you can assign 0 to "Hate it", but "hate it" is different

If you want to use drop-downs in your array there are two scripts (one that stores the text, one that stores the value)

So, please explain what you are planning and send a lss export of this question.

And please answer the questions about your LimeSurvey version.

I think this is as simple as using numerics for answer codes and. You can download the data with codes intead of text labels.

I agree, this might be a simple issue of exporting the results in the wrong way.

...or, using the core default (somewhat obtuse) answer codes.

Oh,
I seemed to be confused by "array as text".
Yes, obviously, Ligia is talking of a simple array.

Sorry Joffm, forgot to add version at the beginning:
LimeSurvey Community Edition
Version 3.28.49+230215

Anyway, you're all right, it's just a matter of how I export it. Never thought about actually labelling the answer option with the number I want as an answer (instead of leaving default) and then export answers as code instead of text label! This will save me tons of time... Sorry for bothering, now it seems pretty easy.

Thanks
