I am trying to get MFA for admins and I was reading the documentation for community edition and you need to get a plugin (Two-Factor Administration Login) in order to do it. The plugin says premium version is required, how do I get the premium version within my self hosted instance? If it is just buying it on the website on a made account, which plan do I need and how do I go about getting that plugin into my self-hosted instance if it is not just a simple download and upload?

I would get in touch with Limesurvey GmbH via a Support ticket. Here in the forum it is mainly users helping users and most of us do not have any deeper insights on how to get the two factor administration plugin. When clicking on it in Limestore the download started for me, but I do have ComfortUpdate. It probably has to do with that. But I recommend to ask via a support ticket.

I understood what you are asking. My answer is still the same: submit a support ticket, because they are probably the only ones to tell you for sure.

That is usually the first approach. Either you try again, explaining that you would want to purchase a package if you could use 2 factor authentication with your community installation.

I think the first level support automatically blocks everything when they read "community edition". The probably get a lot of support tickets from people who just have the community edition, do not pay anything and won't pay anything ever, but want professional support.

The other alternative is to wait and hope that someone in the forum knows about this.

Never looked into this plugin, but from what I read it might actually only be available on the SaaS offering:

OK, here it becomes a little clearer. It is either on the Limesurvey Cloud, or you need the Premium Account. Unfortunately the link here to the Premium Account doesn't work. So you could open a support ticket for that and see what they say.

Maybe Limesurvey Premium doesn't exist anymore. Afaik it was when you ordered the ComfortUpdate, but I am not sure. But must be it, as I could download the plugin from the Limestore and I have ComfortUpdate. In any way, the pricing structure besides the Cloud packages of the SaaS service are not very clear. I have the impression that they are trying to fade this out and move everyone to the cloud version.

Unfortunately the page about ComfortUpdate isn't very clear if it includes the "Premium Package" or not.

I remember that we had this case before and support said that they can't help with the CE Edition, but Carsten, the lead of the project at Limesurvey GmbH has insured me that people with ComfortUpdate get support.

Now, if I recall right, the premium package was part of ComfortUpdate, but I am not 100% sure and I don't know the current situation. Maybe write under the forum links here to see if you get some answer. Because generally the employees of Limesurvey GmbH don't really appear in the forum just out of nothing.

If you wan't to buy comfort update anyway, then go for it! If it is just to see if you can get the plugin, I'd rather ask them if it will give you access.

But I think ComfortUpdate is well worth the "investment". You can do manual updates and it is not thaaat big of a deal, but ComfortUpdate is really a lot more "comfortable", so if you are planning to use Limesurvey seriously, then I think it is worth to get ComfortUpdate. Will save you quite some time on updates and you probably will update much more frequently than without.
