Dear members,
I have made some surveys in Limesurvey. These are ready now. But, before I start my research, I want to pilot test these surveys (in order to see how the raw data will look like when I import these in SPSS). According to my supervisor it is possible to run pilot test in the Preview Mode (she used an old(er) version of Limesurvey; in it, she said, it was possible to collect data in previews as well). Is hat thrue? And if so: how can I set up a preview with the possibility of gaining data? I tried to run a Preview with the possiblity of data collection, but I could not (I don't have the button 'Activate this survey'). I think I need more access permissions. Or, did I set up the Preview wrong?
Hopefully someone can help me a bit further.
Greetings,
Peter Paul.

I think this information is not correct. Afaik since I know Limesurvey (15+ years), this has never been possible. Preview mode never has saved answers in the database.
To run a full test with Limesurvey, including responses saved in the database, you will have to active Limesurvey, do your tests and then deactive it again.
I answer at the LimeSurvey forum in my spare time, I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH employee.

Volunteers are not paid.
Not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless

So, you do not see these buttons.
How does it look like in your browser?
Seems really weird, as there were other students of OU who never mentioned this.
On the other side, in this case there has to exist a person who is able to activate the survey for you. Ask him.

Hi all,
Thank you both! I thought it was not possible in the preview, so you confirms my presumptions.
These are the buttons in my Limesurvey application (so no (Dutch) button of 'Activate this survey', or 'Activeer deze enquete'):
I shall ask my supervisor to activate my Limesurveys.
Greetings,
Peter Paul.
