==================
I have a task where pictures appear in succession for a set of questions. The sequence is a picture of a blue square, a fixation cross and a face or a fixation cross and a face, depending on question type. You can look at the question PracticeOffer or Practice 1, 2 and 3 for singular examples of the question type. The process works well but at the begining  of the trials, especially if you zoom out sufficiently (about 33% with Google Chrome Zoom option), you can very briefly see all the pictures appear at once below the first picture before they appear in succession.

I was wondering if it is possible to stop the pictures from appearing early in that fashion or if it is just a part of limesurvey.

Thanks in advance.

I took a quick look at your survey. It's quite common to see items which gets hidden via Javascript for a short time. Depending on the browser javascript engine and the hardware of the enddevice the effect can become quite long. You can see such delays e.g. when using a ranking question where certain answer items are filtered out.
I don't see a quick fix for that on the survey designer level.

If using JavaScript, try adding a CSS class "hidden" to the images and then remove that class name via JavaScript.

Well, that's rather obvious.
You hide the pictures after the page is fully loaded.

Maybe better to hide the question with  css class "hidden" and remove this class after the page is loaded.
Here you see an example - different scenario but same effect.

That would ease the situation.
