Hello, is there a script that can be used to hide the answer in a short text question? 
I am using the question to hide an equation and I don't want my study participants to see it simply hiding the question by clicking the display option leads to issues for what I am trying to do.

And what are you trying to do?

What exactly is your goal?
You want to display the question text but hide the answer container?
Why don't you use a question of type "text display" to display a text and a question of type "equation" to calcullate the equation. This you can hide.

Or don't you talk about an equation but of some kind of javascript?

Sorry, we are using 3.28 on the Limesurvey cloud. I think we are using the default theme.

The reason we can't use a text display is that we are trying to put an equation in the default answer of a short text question. We would like to use the value of this equation in another question's default answer equation by referring to the short text question's code.

We have tried to hide the question by regular means in the question editing menu but it generates a NAN message in the second question. So we thought that hiding the question with a script could work.

Yes, please how do we hide a question type equation ?

A question of type "equation" you can hide by

1. "Always hide this question"  
or
2. css class "hidden"

You should show this by attaching a lss export of these relevant questions. This way we can have a look at it.

I really can't see a good reason to "store" a code in the default answer of a hidden text field rather than in a hidden equation type question.
