I just put the "afaik" because with so many versions out there, I am never sure if there was a change at some point in time. E.g. I know it was there, but I don't know since which version, 1.7, 1.9? 2.x, 2.5x, 3.x? Is it still there in LS 4/5, etc. That's why I try to keep it vague. also because I am too lazy to check if it is still there in LS5.

Yes. Sorry if it comes across as if I didn't, but the version of LimeSurvey I use is implemented at a company level, so I don't see this setting myself (which is why I hadn't had the chance to freely experiment with it), I need to request this to someone else for it to be changed. I actually asked to set it to pop-up as was suggested to me in the earlier posts, but at this point that hasn't worked. I'll ask them to change the setting to turn off the editor.

Most of the times the version is at the lower right corner of the screen that shows the surveys list.
