Separated areas by roles / groups was created by ri-palb
Hi LimeSurvey community,
we are currently running LimeSurvey in our corporate network in order to perform surveys with internal and external persons.
I have a question and it would be awesome if one of you guys could answer it:
can I create separated areas in which only a group oder role has access?
Let me specify it a little bit more. There are 2 departments within the company and both should be able to create surveys and see the results. department A should not be able to see the surveys (+ the corresponding results) from department B and vice versa.
I looked at the role-permission system but was not able to set it up that way.
Can this be accomplished?
Currently we are running version 4.3.30+201207.
Any help / hints would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Philipp

You shouldn't. 4.x is not yet stable and I would not use it for production.
Regarding your problem: You should be able to create user groups and allow only users of this group see surveys in this group.
I don't use the permission system, because I usually allow my users to do everything, so I can't be of much concrete help. Maybe someone who is more experienced in the permission system can give more details.
I answer at the LimeSurvey forum in my spare time, I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH employee.

Hi LimeSurvey community,
I tested version 4.4.6 of LimeSurvey in order to accomplish the aforementioned.
(I want to have users that are in their own departments and are able to create surveys. The surveys / survey-answers should only be readable and manageable within the actual the department due to sensitive information.)
I was not able to get it working. Can this be achieved somehow with LimeSurvey using survey groups or similar?
If yes, can you please provide me with the steps?
This would be greatly greatly appreciated...
Thanks in advance!
Best regards

2 survey groups one for department A and one for department B.
No rights on default group
Give read rights on surveys for department A for survey group «department A»
Give read rights on surveys for department B for survey group «department B»

There are options to predefine survey settings for a survey group, but that does not include the option to automatically assign surveys to a certain survey group.

Following the suggested approach: How do I make sure that surveys of a user belonging to user group "department A" are always assigned to survey group "department A" automatically?2 survey groups one for department A and one for department B.
No rights on default group
Give read rights on surveys for department A for survey group «department A»
Give read rights on surveys for department B for survey group «department B»

Maybe by name ?
Surveygroup name === User group name : all user in this group have such right.
Since User group is currently used as shortcut for "select all user's in this group" and not a real group management: the quickest solution is Plugin creation.
But adding an user to a Survey groups is not more time consuming than adding oit to a group.
One of my client don't create group, just assign user to Survey group (use Survey group as User group).
