I was wondering if access codes are mandatory for participants when you initialise a csv table.
I would rather not have my participants inserting an access code, but it seems mandatory if you want the survey not to be publicly available.

What do you mean by "not to be publicly available"? If a survey can be reached via browser on the public internet, a protection like access code seems necessary to keep the survey nonpublic.
You have various options on how to run your survey:
- open: Anyone who has the link can access
- closed: a token is required to access (it's a little bit like a password).
- a. You can send this out to with the link within the URL already. So no one needs to input the token.
- b. Or you send the link without the token, then they need to put the token in.

Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).
