Creating branches in limesurvey was created by torilee93
Hello,
I am looking to create a survey with branches and was wondering if this is possible with LimeSurvey.

For example,

Question 1: Is there dog a large breed?
If Yes, it will proceed to question 2
If No, it will proceed to question 3

Question 2: Is the dog friendly?
If Yes, Proceed to question 3
If No, Proceed to a page that says Sorry We cannot Accept this Dog

Question 3: Will this dog be staying overnight?
If Yes, Proceed to question 4
If No, Proceed to page that says Thank you, we can watch this Dog for the day.

Is something like this possible to do within Lime Survey?
If so, could you please give me some pointers on how to do this?

Thank you very much!

Limesurvey doesn't use the concept of "branching" or "jumping", but instead the concept of "hiding/showing".

So using the relevance equations in each question you either show it or hide it depending on the answers to previous questions.

E.g. in Q2 you would write something like this into the relevance equation:
Code:
Q1==1

Assuming that in Q1 "Yes" has the code "1" (and "no" has the code "2" for example) this would make the question Q2 only appear when the response in Q1 is "1" or "yes".

And to add:
If the "No" answer of Q2 and Q3 terminate the survey with the respective messages, you may use quotas.

@holch
Thank you for answering all my questions.
Is limesurvey able to have and/or logic?
For example,
If question 1 and 2 is Yes then it would show an admit dog page OR if question 1 and 2 is No then it would show a refuse dog page.

Hope this makes some sort of sense.

Thank you again!

Yes, the expressions in Limesurvey allow for AND / OR logic:

You have to tell LimeSurvey team about that.

The www.limesurvey.org/en/pricing states

Skip Logic / Branching

as a feature.

You have to tell LimeSurvey team about that.

Done that, been there...

I guess they use it, because at the end you can achieve the same and people know the words. But I am not responsible for what Limesurvey GmbH is putting on their website.

Any complains directly to them, please... ;-)

And the Skip Logic is correct.

With a lot of good will maybe we can also consider "branching" as correct.

Main Problem is the "Jumping". For the respondents it is the same, I guess, so they won't know if they jumped to one question or if the questions in between have been hidden. Only "Jumping back" will not be possible to simulate with the LS approach.
