How to keep all theme setting after upgrading? was created by majidr
Hi,
I extended the bootswatch theme and did many modification on it such as logo, etc. I also did some changes in admin themes such as changing favicon. However, after upgrade, they all were reset and all of my icons and setting are gone.
I have two questions; first is there something like child theme (like the one in wordpress) that after upgrading we don't lose setting ? second one, when I create an extended theme, why there is no such a folder in theme folder ? I mean only main themes have folder and extended themes do not create a separate folder, right ? I'm usinig the latest version (4.2)
Thanks

By definition all extended survey themes are child themes. You can set default theme options for them in the theme editor interface.
All custom themes are in the /upload/ directory so they will not be overwritten when updating.
Extended survey themes reside in /upload/themes/survey/.
Custom admin themes reside in /upload/themes/admintheme/.

Thank you for your response.
I found the folders. However, I'm wondered how I can extend an admin theme?
For instant I want to make some modification on " Bay of Many" theme. There isn't and extend option near it. So, should I copy all it's folder to /upload/themes/admintheme/ . Also. how can I activate my custom admin theme?
Thanks you

Volunteers are not paid.
Not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless

Yes, you copy it to /upload/themes/admintheme/ with different name.
Here you change it to your needs.
Don't forget to adapt the "config.xml" (name).
After a restart you will find this new theme in your configuration.
