I have 40 question groups in my survey, which I would like to present in 2 blocks. I would like the first 20 groups to be presented in places 1-20 in a randomized order, and then the last 20 groups to be presented randomly in places 21-40.

I have given the the 2 blocks different Randomization Group Codes (rand1 and rand2), however question groups from the second block are appearing in the first 20 places.

If there a way to randomize within certain orders?

For example:

(BLOCK 1)

15,1,2,20,4,6,8,9,10,5,11,12,17,13,14,3,16,18,7,19

(BLOCK 2)

23,32,21,22,25,39,27,29,30,34,31,33,35,28,36,26,37,38,40,24

Hi,
the way you described is the correct one.
But did you do it correctly?
In most cases there is a typo or something like that.
Therefore you always should show us your attempts and attach a sample of your survey as LSS export.

If you did it the way you describing (giving the same Randomization Group Name to all question groups that should be in the same block, then everything should work fine.

If Joffm's example doesn't help, then you would have to provide us with a LSS file for us to check what is wrong.

And: Always post the version of Limesurvey you are using.

I double checked that all the randomization codes were the same, though found when importing a similar question group layout, I simply changed the randomization code and forgot to update the group question... In fact a typo on my end. Survey runs well now. Thanks!
