Hello,

I need to add new language to my survey i.e Kannada. This language is not available for selection in language list.
To get this language available for selection, i have to update getLanguageData function ( application/helpers/surveytranslator_helper.php)


$supportedLanguages = gT('Kannada');
$supportedLanguages = 'ಕನ್ನಡ';
$supportedLanguages = false;
$supportedLanguages = 2;
$supportedLanguages = 0;

Is there any other any other way where in i can add new language without editing core file?

You can suggest adding a language to LimeSurvey.
Your posted modification seems to miss adding the languages file (.mo). Did you create them?

I have added required font in ckeditor.
So my questions are loading in that font style
I just need language option for selection in survey settings which i need to added without touching core file

Did you look at Jelo's first link?

Here my feature request would be also interesting, which would help with not having to translate all strings for a new language, but first the respondent facing ones and later (maybe) the backend strings.

I wasn't writing about webfonts. A language for a survey contains a lot of translations for the application.
This is done via Gettext. www.gnu.org/software/gettext/manual/gettext.html

And there is no simple configuration file to add new languages to the LimeSurvey backend.
Someone will have to touch code. If you want to add a languages without touching corefiles, you will need to submit a new language to the developers. Or support a feature request to allow adding languages more easily.

How did you end up solving this?

To my knowledge for a short term solution there is no other way besides editing the source code. We have added additioanl langauges for many different customers to their surveys but that always involves changing the source code, which is not that complex. Of course, you should later make the new languages and translation available to the Limesurvey team as outlined at the previously posted links.
