Automatic Daylight Savings Time? was created by haubel
Hello! Twice a year I have to manually set the time because apparently LimeSurvey doesn't adjust to Daylight savings?
The only place I can see where to set the time is in Configuration/Global Settings/General/Time difference (In Hours). Is that the only way? Is there a way to automatically adjust the time?
Thanks!

Limesurvey is stupid, it doesn't know anything about time. It takes the time from the system. So if your server does not adapt automatically to the daylight savings time automatically, then Limesurvey won't either.
The place you are looking at is also the only one that I know of.

Thanks for the reply. Our server updates its time automatically but I still have to correct the time manually whenever we go from CST to CDT to CST . . . I was thinking maybe the setting for daylight savings is somewhere in the config-defaults.php file or one of those . . .

This sounds weird. But maybe the time is also only relative, so your server shows you the daylight savings time, but the system time has not changed at all (most probable explanation).
But I am not an expert on this.

The timezone for LimeSurvey is defined via PHP with a database with contains DST too.
So check e.g. PHP.ini for the timezone.

But isn't that not only the time shown? The actual system time, does it actually change?

When it comes to webhosting you might have more than one website on a server which can differ in timezones. So you like to set the php timezone per php application. If you cannot set the correct timezone via php you can correct the time via the time offset field inside LimeSurvey. If you can set the timezone via php you will see the correct time inside LimeSurvey.

That is syncing the local clock with a timeserver. That is to keep the hardware clocks exact in sync. Which isn't helping for timezones (where daylightsaving time is not used everywhere and changed at the same day).holch wrote: The actual system time, does it actually change?

Thank you very much! That set the time to the correct time zone. I had it setup to
Time difference (in hours): -5/-6 depending on the time of the year. I just modified the php.ini and that's gone. I hope when they change the time back in October it takes the correct.
Thank you very much!!!
