Is there "stars" question option anywhere?

I am looking at
Advanced settings
Use slider layout (slider_rating)

on www.limesurvey.org/manual/Question_type_...ype_-_5_point_choice

I cannot see this in the Advanced settings. Am I blind or has it been removed?

I am using version
$config = '2.59.1';
$config = 261;
$config = '170116';

Thank you - and thanks to everyone who has created excellent documentation.

Brett

Yes, you are blind and you are also old. Well, your LS version is at least... ;-)

Proof:

;-)

Help us to help you!
  • Provide your LS version and where it is installed (own server, uni/employer, SaaS hosting, etc.).
  • Always provide a LSS file (not LSQ or LSG).
Note: I answer at this forum in my spare time, I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH employee.

Well, I am 'blind' today (my glasses badly need replacing...)

I am getting old too :-)

Thanks for the helpful reply.

My version is 'behind the times' too by a few months, for sure. It is not there in my version. I guess it was added after? (even though I see what looks like a related code in the admin directory) . Which question type was your screenshot from? (I looked at what I thought were all the possible question types for this.)

I regret that I've been burned by LimeSurvey software defects in production surveys in the past. This time I looked at the changelogs and decided to NOT upgrade just before running a poll and go with what I know had worked. I will upgrade after this poll ends in July - and maybe get '5 stars' for doing so :-)

cheers,

Brett

Well, it make sense not directly to update your production system to the latest version without testing it on your test environment first. Especially not when running an important project. But your's is about 5 months old. So there have been quite a few updates in between.

I used the one that you were linking to, 5 point choice.

And I don't think this has been added in the last 5 months, but then I wouldn't know, because I never use this type of question.

Here a screenshot. When you choose this question type, then click on "Advanced settings" (not on the arrow, but on the text!), the advanced settings open and you should see what my first screenshot shows.

Thanks for this. I had looked in Advanced settings; I frequently use those including relevance equations and others.

I think I was possibly looking at Array (5 point choice) which doesn't have this advanced option.

I ended up going with Array anyway. With stars as answer labels, it worked out well for usability and screen-space, in both mobile and desktop views.
