I see posts suggesting including the respondent email field in the send detailed confirmation settings.

I am not sure it works with the latest version.

Can you post the link of that post? Since you don't want to use tokens, where is the "respondent email field"? How do you want to identify the respondent?

I see. The thread showed some confusion about getting the variables.
Take a look at this table to see how to access answers from different question types.

Just give it a try with your version.
Create a "Long Free Text" question and save it with the questioncode "qcemail"
Enter {qcemail} in the emailfield in the settings and give it a try.

If that works you might want to invest some time in ensuring the people entering a correct emailaddress (e.g. using two text questions and enforce people to enter email twice to compare for mistypes).
