Change default output format when exporting results

Change default output format when exporting results was created by pedesjensen
I always export results only to Microsoft Excel and therefore I would like to change the default setting for the output format from "CSV" to "Microsoft Excel". How can I do this?

That's not possible without hacking the core code.

Hacking the core code is a fine solution for me, since I already made other tweaks to the code. But can anyone tell me exactly where in the code this output format setting is controlled? I have searched and searched....

But you can update the XLS export system doing a new export plugin and set it to default.
Assistance on LimeSurvey forum and LimeSurvey core development are on my free time.
