Please report as an Ergonomy issue : community.limesurvey.org/bug-tracker/Thanks giving it a try now.
Quick feedback - default answers are extremely hard to find now - suggest adding them to the edit screen in a tab alongside "Question" and "Help"

Has someone tested if Shibboleth plugin works with version 6?

If you already have an auth system : it can be easy to test.
I need to test AuthCAS …

Besides, I am lazy. That's why I asked if someone has already done that.

Kind of: If it does not work at all, it is fast to see. But how about changing the name, for example? If you already have an auth system : it can be easy to test.

Hello there,
I'm a bit confused by version management. I write to ask informations about plans for LS 3.x branch security support. And, in general, about stable LTS development plans.
Do you have some more informations about this? We're planning systems migration from 3.x branch and I need to report about LS roadmap.
Thank you in advance.
I'm a bit confused by version management. I write to ask informations about plans for LS 3.x branch security support. And, in general, about stable LTS development plans.
- Until when, 3.x branch will be supported? Download page now claims "Support end: End of June 2023 (supports PHP 5.5.9 to 7.4.x)". Today is early August 23 and the latest patch is 68+230809
- Is it LS 5.x mature enough to be stable LTS? Actually 5.6.x was patched 33 times. (supports PHP 7.2.5 to 8.0.x)
- What happened to LS 4.x branch? Is LS 6.x branch an unstable testbed? (requires PHP 7.4.x or newer)
Do you have some more informations about this? We're planning systems migration from 3.x branch and I need to report about LS roadmap.
Thank you in advance.

There will be no more LTS version.
PHP 8.0 will be EOL 26 Nov 2023
PHP 8.1. will be EOL 25 Nov 2024
LS3 will rund under patched PHP 7 version a bit longer than the EOL of PHP7 implies.
The elephant in room is if LS5 will run under PHP 8.2.
Currently LS5 seems to end with PHP 8.1.
Currently only LS6 will run under plain PHP 8.2.
Take a look at the roadmap wiki page:
manual.limesurvey.org/LimeSurvey_roadmap
You no longer can plan to use a LS version very long.
Which is the same as with many other open source projects.
But these other projects seldom break that much when moving on.

Here my two cents, but hopefully you get a more "official" response as well.
LS 3.x: I would expect LS 3.x to run out any time soon. We are lucky that it is still supported, even after June 2023, but I wouldn't rely too much on it, because I expect EOL soon.
LS 4.x: Was basically "re-namend" to LS 5.x, not 100% sure why.
LS 5.x: I find LS 5 fairly stable. frequent patches are normal with Limesurvey, even LS 3 received quite a few patches for being LTS.
LS 6.x: Mainly a changed admin interface, not much change in functionality compared to LS 5, at least in my impression.
I actually would expect LS 6 to turn LTS instead of LS 5, but that is just my thinking. Not sure what the Limesurvey GmbH is planning.
The LS roadmap has always been quite flexible and liquid, rather than a rule written in stone. So even if you get a clear answer now, this might change in a couple of weeks. That is how it has always been. The roadmap is a "suggestion", a "possibility" rather than a fixed plan.

Thank you for hinting the roadmap page I was missing it.
I understand and enjoy the ability of the LS Core Team to develop short iterations. For this reason our maintenance mode has got more elastic and we can stay updated with stable updates early.
In the past days I happily tested a working migration from 3.x directly to 6.1.8 but 6.2.0 broke things. I enjoy the new UI simplification but also read release notes and sometimes security issues occurs at 6.x floor.
At this moment if "the captain" will say "let's abandon ship 3.x" our staff is nearly ready. We only need a security audit from our security office and accessibility audit from web administrators. The only limitation is if 5.x can't pass security and accessibility tests. But I can bet will be a short time, because of fast release circle and ability to cooperate on GitHub.

Once again. The LimeSurvey GmbH has abandoned the LTS concept. They will support each LS version for at least two years.I actually would expect LS 6 to turn LTS instead of LS 5, but that is just my thinking. Not sure what the Limesurvey GmbH is planning.
