==================

Hi
I'm trying to set up a question with multiple answers options from a drop down list. I accomplished this partially with an array question with "Use dropdown presentation" but i don't see any option for adding a comment input box so that participants can introduce their own written answer if they don't find it on the list.
Is this possible with an array question or there is another question more suitable for this?

:)

Hi,

this is a bit confusing.
What exactly do you want to do?
What is your goal?

Here you say

I'm trying to set up a question with multiple answers options from a drop down list

Fine, this is built-in.
But now there appears an array question

with an array question with "Use dropdown presentation"

What kind of array? "array" or "array(numbers)"?

Where do you want to add a "comment box"?
t the end of each row of the array?
In each drop-down of the array cell?

Please show what you did so far, and what is your goal.
Screenshot, drawing, and a lss exort of this relevant question, anything that helps us to help you.

Best regards
Joffm

This

"Use dropdown presentation"

makes me think you talk about an "array".
You see the wording "multiple choice" is confusing as it is used in different meanings.
1. There are multiple answer options and the respondent may select MORE than ONE.
If the respondent is only allowed to select ONE, it is called "single choice".
2. There are multiple answer options and there is no difference (either it is allowed to select several or only ONE)

So I think you talk about "single choice"
There is this javascript workaround

where the "Other" column is exclusive, too.

And with "multiple choice" there is something like this (based on an array(text))

Furthermore you may display several dropdowns (with "Other"-option) side by side.
Or underneath without a gap between.

All depends on your question.

So, please explain and show.

Hi Joffm, thank you very much for your reply. Sorry if I was not specific enough, i still don't know how many things are called in Limesurvey.

What I'm trying to do is that the participant can choose either from 1 to 5 options from dropdown lists, plus an option for the participant to write his/her own answer in a text input in the case that the most appropriate question is not on the predetermined lists. I managed to do the first part with an Array question and with the option "Use dropdown presentation" but I still can't add a text input. The attached picture shows 5 dropdown lists and I illustrated how I think it could look with a 6th option in blue that it is not another dropdown list but the text input.

Please let me know if more information is needed.

:)

When I see "Choose in order of priority" this is nothing else than a ranking question.
In your design
1. You have to assure that each answer is only selected once
2. The "Other" Option is always on 6th place.

First of all: an "Other" option in a ranking question is - honestly - nonsense.
What gain of information do you get if ONE respondent puts "XXX" on second place, and another respondent puts "YYY" on fourth place?

So, two solutions:
1. Do not include an "Other" option, but ask in a next question "Ist there anything else important that was not mentioned before?"
2. Insert an "Other" Code in the ranking. If selected display a question where the respondent enters his "Other"

Here three options:

Thank you very much! The first option with some conditions works good.
