Novice here. A hacked site brought everything down, but I have the old base with data, and now a new install of Limesurvey. I cannot figure out how to place that old survey into the new install. The export and import options do not appear to match the required extensions,

At a loss, hope someone may have advice to offer!

You need to export your survey from the old install as .LSS or .LSA and import it into your new install. These file types have not changed in Limesurvey.

However, to better help you, we would need a little bit more information:

Limesurvey version of the old and the new install?

The old survey file is available with what extension?

Many thx — I do have a .txt file on my notebook, and I do see the survey in myphpadmin, but don't know how to "point" to it from the new Limesurvey installation. The old installation was deleted by the host while fixing a hack.

When I import the .txt file, I get this message:
500: Internal Server Error
Selected Surveys language not found
An internal error occurred while the Web server was processing your request.

Also— I just tried iporting the .csv file into the new installation from the back end, and again within myphpadmin I see the data, but the survey is not listed in the surveys list via the Limesurvey interface.

I hope some of this may make sense and be helpful.

Well,
1.

I do have a .txt file on my notebook

What is the content of your "*.txt" file?

2.

I do see the survey in myphpadmin

What else do you see?
Is there a complete database on your server?

3. Are there different versions of your "old" and "new" installation?

4.

don't know how to "point" to it from the new Limesurvey installation

Usually you do this in "application / config / config.php"
'components' => array(
'db' => array(
'connectionString' => 'mysql:host=myHost.com;port=3306;dbname=myDataBaseName;',
'emulatePrepare' => true,
'username' => 'myUsername',
'password' => 'myPassword',
'charset' => 'utf8mb4',
'tablePrefix' => 'lime_',
),

5.

I just tried iporting the .csv file

Which *.csv file? You did not mention any in your first post.

TXT and CSV doesn't sound like a survey structure file (it is possible, but generally the survey structure is exported via LSS or LSA).

I assume that the CSV file are the responses from that former survey.

I mean, how did you generate these TXT and CSV files? Where do they come from?

Hm, *.txt may be. There is the option to export to TAB-separated fale, and do some changes in EXCEL.
But *.csv? Really sounds like a data file.

Exactly, it is possible, but highly unlikely. But without further information this is all speculation.

@Joffm: did you notice that we both have been marked as "banned"?

Lol, there was no ban. Just we updated Kunena and that reset the rank descriptions for some reason.

Best regards

Which is why I said we are "marked as banned" and not "we are banned". It was quite obvious that it was no real ban, how else would I have been able to post? It was funny though. Imagine the forum with Tpartner, Joffm and me banned. Pretty empty. Poor Denis would be on his own. Hahahaha.
