How to receive emails with the users responses?

Hi, I've just installed the Lime... but Im trying hard here to configure the email notification with no luck at all..
I changed to PHP, IMAP, SSL, and it seems that nothing fix the problem.

Activate mail debug and try to send an token email (you can just create a survey for this).

Else : email configuration must be done before. Did it work ?

Hi Denis, thank you for your response... But I already did the configuration on the email.php file as well as on the Lime Configuration page... I've changed the settings to all the setup I could think off, but it is still not working... I'm sendin test emails from the users page and it shows that the SMTP connect failled! I already chagend the password from my SMPT account, but didnt work.
I also installed the "MailSenderToFrom" plugin to force the SMTP account identify the user as the email Im sending from but with not luck.
Do I have to setup the configuration on the email.php file or should I just set it up on the web page?
Do I have to type the port number on the SMTP address or when I turn the SSL or TLS config it would change automatically?

LimeSurvey version and build number.
No need to update email.php : global settings replace it.
manual.limesurvey.org/Global_settings#Email_settings

And : use token send email to have the complete debug.
Remine to activate mail debug for all.

So obviously something is wrong with your email settings.

What version of Limesurvey do you use?

With what type of Email Account are you sending? As far as I know, Gmail for example requires you to permit external webapps to send emails from it. Otherwise it won't work.

Wrong security settings (SSL/TLS) are also often a source of problems.

I think you r right...
but Ive changed the email.php settings now, should I change it back to the original?

I double checked the password and user a bunch times and it is still going through erros...

You should NOT change the source code, include the email settings into user interface, where it should go.

And you obviously have a problem with incorrect authentication data, as the error "535 Incorrect authentication data" suggests. I think you need to discuss this with your hosting company, if you are sure that you are using the right credentials. Because Limesurvey clearly tries to connect, but is refused. So of course Limesurvey can not send emails, if the email server refuses connection. Of course, we can not exclude 100% that there might not be a bug in Limesurvey that causes this (e.g. Limesurvey could add something to the user name, the password, etc.). But to be honest, this would have come up frequently in the forum, if Limesurvey would have such a bug, because then no one could send emails with Limesurvey. The Forum would be on fire quickly I think.

Also, you still did not provide any information on the Limesurvey Version that you use, as requested by Denis and me.

Can you show us a screenshot of your SMTP settings?

Well guys, I did it!! Ive sent an email...
I think the thing is that I was using a different SMTP server from the server I installed the Lime Survey...
Heres the catch.. I installed the Lime Survey in a domain, but I was using a different SMTP server, from another domain, on the same host..
I saw on the debug that it was missplacing the servers... So I created a email account on the server that I had installed the Lime Survey and it worked.
I think this is something with my own host, so no need to worry about it on the bug report.

Hey holch, I've received the email sent from the users page, but I did a test with the survey and I havent gotten an email alert by the end of the response.
is that right?
