Hi,
where is the "array exclusion filter"?
Where is the "Assignment" I mentioned before?

This should do everything you like.

BTW: You should set the "None of the above" as "exclusive"

I didn't notice that one additional equation question should be added for the purpose of the assignment until I saw your answer!!!!! I will really appreciate your help. That works now. Thank you Joffm.

Hello Joffm,

I came to bother you again due to my trouble utilizing ranking answers. Now I met some new problem: I defined some equations (in other words, mode constant) for travel mode respectively. In the ranking question, respondents will rank the preferred methods. For example, one ranked private bike (SQ1) as his/her favourite mode. The equation for private bikes is also coded as "SQ1". To refer to the equation value of "SQ1", I tried {{Preference_1.code}} which didn't work. So I'm wondering how can I achieve this function in LimeSurvey.

The survey file is shown as below:

Hi,

1.what do you want to achieve with these first 12 questions?
You know, equations are surrounded by curly brackets.

2. Why are there two curly brackets around the equation?
With the correct syntax you get the code of the first place.

Hello Joffm,

The first 12 equations are defined as mode constant. In the case of your screenshot, the code of the bus is SQ9. So I want to get the value of SQ9 equation which is 25.

Best,

But these 12 equations are wrong.
As I wrote, equations are surrounded by curly brackets.
What you do is only the display of a number.

If you use curly brackets you store a "7" in SQ1. Meaning, you have to write an equation {7}.

Obviously you want to get a certain value depending on the ranking question.
With your idea you could do something like this:
{if(Preference_1.code=="SQ1",SQ1,if(Preference_1.code=="SQ2",SQ2,if(Preference_1.code=="SQ3",SQ3,.....}

But this you can write as
{if(Preference_1.code=="SQ1",7,if(Preference_1.code=="SQ2",17,if(Preference_1.code=="SQ3",17,.....}

But both is absolutely not necessary.
Instead use assessment values to give each ranking option a certain value.

BTW:
If this happens to be one of the yearly surveys about "openbare vervoer" of the TUE, you may ask some of your fellow students who also worked on this in the past.

Hello Joffm,

Here comes one new question. I want to ask respondents about their mode of accessing public transport (which mode will you use to access the public transport stops?). Then randomly one of their choices will be displayed in the following question. I understand questions and groups can be displayed randomly, but am wondering if it's possible to do the same on the previously chosen question options?
The lss file is attached below.

Thank you in advance.

Here comes one new question.

Yes, it is a new question, not related to "Can I use answer of ranking question in following questions?"

Why don't you open a new thread?
I am not surprised to read frequently "I searched the forum but did not find" if a question about random select of multiple choices is hidden in a thread about ranking.

Joffm

But nevertheless, here an easy solution without javascript.

But are you sure, you use an array(numbers)?

Hello all,

Now I'm trying to use answers from the previous multi-checkbox question (irrelevant in the survey) to filter the options displayed in the ranking question (preference). I want to use an in-between question (irrelevantHidden) to conduct some assignments.  It works well when the in-between question is displayed but doesn't work when it's hidden. I'm wondering if it's possible to achieve what I want and hide the in-between question at the same time. Or do you have other suggestions? You can check the survey file in the attached document.

Best,

This again is not related to your initial topic "Can I use answer of ranking question in following questions?"

Remember: This is not a dialogue, this is a forum.

So, please: New topic, new thread.
