For instance, you will be requested to classify features such as eyes color, eating habits or geolocation to some categories like “physical” or “personality”.

 

For this research project, it is important that you complete the task carefully and entirely. Please read the information sheet and the consent form below to know more about this research and accept participating in this study before starting.

 

Your answers will be anonymized as we will assign you a unique ID so we do not require your full name. We will ask you minimal personal data: age, sex, and country of residence. Details of the study:

  • This is a FNS funding research project that seeks to understand how matching algorithms are quantifying personal criteria in dating platforms.
  • For a qualitative analysis we are seeking experts of dating services to conduct a classification task of features. The participant, woman or man, must be min. 18 years old.
  • During max. 1 hour the participant will respond to an online survey where s-he will do a classification task. The answers will be recorded in the online form and will be collected in CVS text format. Participants will remain anonymous.
  • No compensation will be given to participate in the study
  • Please ask us if there is anything that is not clear or if you would like to receive more information.
  • It is up to you to decide whether you will take part or not; choosing not to take part will not disadvantage you in any way. As a participant you have the right to withdraw from the study at any time without giving a reason or facing negative consequences.
  • All data will be collected and stored safely and reported in an anonymous form, in accordance with the CH Federal law on data protection (“Loi fédérale sur la protection des données” – RS 235.1). Only the principal investigator has access to the original data under strict confidentiality.

Any injury or damage due to the participation in the above-mentioned research project and for which the responsibility of the EPFL can be established, is covered by the general liability
